With baby Purity, Mercy Johnson is living it up

“I am taking a step of faith,” star actress Mercy Johnson said a few days before walking down the aisle last year. Now, if things happening around her are anything to go by, it means Mercy’s faith is certainly paying off.
In December, the actress delivered a baby girl, Purity, and stayed overseas for five months to ensure she gets necessary immunisation. She’s now back home and counting her blessings. However, Mercy’s status has changed. Rather than return to the Omole Estate home she used to share with her husband, Prince Odi, the actress and her baby moved straight into a new mansion in Ajah, Lagos.
“I want Purity, our child, to mark her coming to Nigeria with a new home,” Mercy told a close family friend. As if that is not enough, MJ as the actress is fondly called, has been getting scripts from movie producers who want her back on set. Nollywood Now learnt that many producers in Asaba have been waiting patiently for Mercy to give birth and return to location.
“MJ is in hot demand in Asaba, almost all the movies she did sold like hotcake. Dumeji the Dirty Girl and Babay Oku are still selling; so you’ll understand the reason behind waiting for her,” a source gushed. Last week, Mercy’s hubby added a year and the couple went out with Purity to celebrate the birthday.

How far have you gone with your Ph.D programme at the University of Ibadan (UI)? I am still on it. This is my second year. I am currently doing some field work. I hope to round off the field work by the end of this year. Afterwards, I will start writing. How are you combining it with your tight schedule? Everybody knows what he wants in life. You have to create time to do all the things you want to do and that is why everyone must be good in managing his or her time. Definitely, scale of preference will come in. No one has time to combine many necessary and important things but one has to create time to achieve one’s dream. You did an advert for Etisalat and all of a sudden, you switched over to MTN. Why did you switch from Etisalat to MTN? I will not want to say anything about that for now. Please, do not let us go there. It is no go ...
