Jang NGF faction plans to check oil theft
Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan
Delta
State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, says the Nigeria Governors’ Forum is
committed to checking the challenge of oil theft in the country.
He spoke to journalists in Abuja on the sidelines of the NGF meeting in Abuja on Sunday.
The governor noted that the forum’s
security initiatives, especially since after the shutting down of two
major pipelines (Trans-Niger and Nembe) had started to pay off.
Uduaghan said, “As I speak today, the two pipelines, vandalised and damaged, have been repaired and re-opened.”
The governor, who also appealed to
Nigerians to support the fight against illegal bunkering, said oil theft
had “drastically reduced the country’s socio-economic potential.”
On the participation of the Delta
State-born Blessing Okagbare at the ongoing International Athletics
Championships in Moscow, the governor commended her feat in winning a
silver medal in the Long Jump event.
Uduaghan promised that his administration would continue to support the athlete and other youths involved in sports.
